This season ADAM SHIELDS has signed for SKY sports elite league club The Lakeside hammers of Arena Essex.

In 2003 Adam doubled up with Eastbourne Eagles and the Isle of Wight. 2004 saw Adam step up to the Elite League full time with Eastbourne. This was a big achieviement as he was only in his fourth season of racing in the UK, Adam rode for the Sussex culb until he moved to the Lakeside Hammers in December 2006.

The second new club that Adam has joined for 2007 is Swedish club Bejen of Stockholm in the Swedish elite league. Adam Shields spectacular arrival on the British speedway scene made him an obvious target for pretty well every Elite league side after his first season with the Isle of Wight.

Brought in to the Isle of Wight Premier League team as a replacement for Phillipe Berge, he immediately became a hit with the fans with his full throttle, round the boards attitude and in September 2002 was crowned as the Premier League Riders Champion.

The Eagles first used Adam as a guest for Dean Barker in their demolition of Kings Lynn in June 2002, scoring paid nine from five starts. Drafted in four days later to the make-shift team, he played a key role in the shock win at Coventry with eight from six. With Toni Svab breaking his leg in the World Team Cup, Adam's opportunities in the Eagles team increased and he helped the Eagles win at Ipswich and draw at Coventry. An impressive fourteen point haul from six rides was vital in the home win over Poole in August.

Extensive guest bookings for several clubs took their toll culminating in a scoreless meeting in the Play-off finals at Wolverhampton, though in his defence, he did have to ride in heat 13! Drafted into the cup final team, Adam didn't disappoint, most memorably joining Deano for the all-so-important cup winning maximum in heat 14 at Peterborough. In all, Adam scored 63+9 from 49 heats in the 10 matches he rode for the Eagles, effectively a 5.88 average.

After 3 full seasons with the Sussex club, time and rider moved on as Adam made the move to the Lakeside Hammers at the Arena Essex bowl. It is a new exciting chapter of Adams speedway life as he has not only joined a new club but a new start for the Essex side with a change of management structure that will along with Adam, must surley bring succsess to the Lakeside fans.
